Why is this magical number important?
Quintuple 7's yo!! I kinda can't wait to get it over the 200,000 mark and be officially high mileage. My goal for this car is drive it until 321,000 kms.

Chevrolet Cavalier?

You seem to have quite a lot of fuel, sir.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 10:43 |

At the expense of engine temperature.

What car is it?

2003 Cavalier all rice rocketed.

Wow. Good call, I am impressed.

Fuel is off the charts yo

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I'm a little confused here. The fuel gauge and the temp gauge are blaming each other for something?
![]() 02/23/2014 at 10:45 |

Seems like a fair trade off to me.
A guy up the street from me drove a 1990's Ford Ranger until it finally gave up at 350k miles.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 10:45 |

Hahaha.
Cavalier's stepper motor cannot into cold weather.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 10:46 |

Ahh, Good old GM made gauge clusters......They always malfunction in hilarious ways.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 10:46 |

That is a lot. I won't drive this that far I don;t think.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 10:48 |

disregard engine temp. Acquire fuel.

you've got to fight for your right...to party.

He definitely got his money out of it. My grandpa points out a guy every once in a while that drives the same Studebaker he had when they were in high school. Never owned a different car apparently. I haven't seen him in a while, but if I see it I'm definitely gonna get a picture.
What kind of car are you driving?
![]() 02/23/2014 at 10:50 |

Haha, thanks. I recongized that cluster layout because I've driven a family member's Pontiac Sunfire on multiple occasions. It's the essentially same as the Sunfire, only with different needles and a different font for the readouts.
With just 110,000 miles, that car's only getting broken in. You'll get to 200,000 easy.

2003 Chevrolet Cavalier.
Will run badly longer than most things will run at all.

Yeah I have heard they tend to last a long time. Still tons of them around these parts despite not being made for 9 years.

Slide to the right

You pretty much summed that car up. My friends winter beater is a 2000 five speed sunfire with 170k on it. The amount of hell it's been through I can't believe the damm thing starts 9 times out of 10 even if it sits for a long time.

My 2006 F-150 just hit 380k.

Take it back now, y'all...

Yeah I am not surprised. They aren't the most refined vehicle, but they can take a thumping. Mine is also a 5 spd.

I just broke 100k in my car not long ago. Pretty awesome, hopefully mine lasts up to 200k, or even 177777 like yours. That would be nice.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 12:49 |

You got that right. That thing has seen more forest than a rally car. Hahaha.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 14:29 |

A cavalier can run badly longer than some cars run at all. Look at all the 90s Cavaliers still on the road while 90s Hyundais are rotting away in junkyards.

What everyone doesn't realize is that the extra fuel is used like meth injection to keep temps down. Works amazingly.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 15:53 |

Yup. This one has got lots of life left. No rust!

My Silverado. I purchased it in December of '99.
Now have 272996 on it still going strong.
MMMMMMMM. The pic didn't post.

Exactly.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 15:57 |

Yeah, I bought mine with about 90,000 kms on it. The miles come fast sometimes. I remember one weekend I drove to vermont, and the next weekend toronto...I did 5000 kms in 3 weeks!

Kinja'd!

Miles or kilometers. I know some guy who works for Canadian rail up here, he put on 60,000 kms in a year or something. Just nuts.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 16:51 |

Miles. I live in Houston.

One of my friends dads had an oldsmobile years ago. The speedometer would rest at 220 (or whatever the max was) and move right to left as it got faster.

The Aston Martin mod?
I had a tach do that to me.... lmao

Holy shit. I once say an 06 Crown Vic like that for sale. It had 591,000 kms or 367,000 miles. How did you get so many? 06 isn't that old.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 17:35 |
|
Just kidding, respectable car if it can take that many miles!
![]() 02/23/2014 at 17:37 |
|
Meh. Some people like it some people hate it. I understand it. It rides like shit, is slow, and is obnoxiously loud.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 17:39 |

All i'd do is remove the fart can
![]() 02/23/2014 at 18:43 |

It only gets more miserable from here on out.

I just bought a '98 Taurus(I'm broke I don't wanna hear about it) that has just over 150k miles on it. I am going to drive that thing until 300k and at that point who knows what will happen.mi don't see any plans of ever getting rid of it.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 20:05 |

Don't feel bad. We've all been there at least once. My next car isn't anything special. It's an 05 Tiburon with 93k. Newest car I'll ever have owned. Haha.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 23:43 |
|
I didn't know it it but I actually like this car. I don't know if it's because it's the first one I've bought on my own or if it runs better than I could have ever expected or what but I do enjoy it. Hopefully my next car will either be much newer or much much older.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 23:48 |

Well to be honest I genuinely do like the car. I don't know if it just because it is the first car I have bought or if it is because it runs surprisingly well(minus a few minor imperfections with things meant for comfort) but I like it and look forward to my time with it. I plan on cleaning it up and giving it the treatment nobody gives an old Taurus, proper car care.
